President Abdel Fattah El Sisi ratified seven laws on authorizing the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to contract with EMRA and SMRC

On 12/31/2021, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi ratified Laws number (163-164-165-166-167-168-169) of 2021 Authorizing the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to contract with the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority and Shalateen Mineral Resources Company regarding the exploration and exploitation of gold and associated minerals in the areas of:

1. Hamata .
2. Fatiri .
3. Wadi Al-Alaqi .
4. (Iqat , Jabal Al-Jarf , Jabal Misah , Jabal Elba and Aswan region).
5. Umm Ud & Hangaliya .
6. Atud .
7. El-Barramiya.

It is reported that on 11/01/2021, the Egyptian Parliament, in its plenary session, approved seven draft laws for the aforementioned areas.

It is worth noting that the areas subject to the laws are among the best sites in the eastern desert of Egypt in terms of the concentration of gold and associated minerals. The surface quartz veins in those areas were previously exploited by the pharaohs and others.
